This is a post focused on an ongoing event that is part of a series of events that has been ongoing for months at this point. I am working on a more comprehensive timeline, but background information in this post will be minimal.

I have attempted to reach out to a representative from StaffDen, to PJB, and to Julian for comments and to answer questions. I have not received a response from Julian at the time of writing. After publication and a subsequent request for comments, PJB responded with “I do not consent to you publishing any of my comments” immediately followed by her blocking me.

Biases and Conflicts

I was a head game admin, project manager, and the operations director for Space Wizards Federation and the official Space Station 14 servers, Wizard’s Den, before leaving with the rest of the headmin team and many admins in 2024. Events that have occurred both before and after my departure can reasonably be interpreted as something that may bias my coverage of events. I cannot reasonably disclose an exhaustive list of potential biases, but there are potential biases related to both sides of the ongoing dispute connected to Space Station 14’s Wizard’s Den.

Background: Two Wizard’s Dens

On June 6th, 2026, there was a split in control of Space Wizard’s Federation’s/Wizard’s Den’s (“WizDen”) assets. PJB, who has long held control over much of the infrastructure, separated from most of the rest of Wizard’s Den while retaining control of much of the infrastructure. This occurred after PJB had stated an intent to transfer control of WizDen assets. Both continue to claim that they are Wizard’s Den/Space Wizard’s Federation. For clarity, I will refer to PJB’s side as PJBDen and the other as StaffDen, but to my knowledge, neither refer to themselves as this.

In the split, StaffDen appears to have retained control over only the Discord server and r/ss14 subreddit, while PJBDen took control of the rest. In the few weeks or months before June 6th, PJB had transferred control of the Discord account that held the Space Station 14 Discord server to Julian, a project manager and lead maintainer at the time. Julian had been given control of the GitHub organization that held the Space Station 14 repositories but did not remove PJB’s access, so PJB was able to remove Julian’s.

In the following weeks, StaffDen set up alternative infrastructure as they attempt to regain control over the original infrastructure. Both StaffDen and PJBDen have been accused of violating laws in relation to this incident from early June. Both have denied wrongdoing, but I am not aware of any criminal charges having been filed.

Current Events

Account Takeover

PJB on Reddit, seeming to admit she believes she may have committed a federal crime.

Around June 23rd, 2026, PJB regained control over the Space Station 14 Discord server. She claims to have done so by taking advantage of the fact that Julian never changed the email address or 2FA for the Discord account. StaffDen says that the email wasn’t changed after PJB cut off their control of infrastructure because the email servers were inaccessible at the time. PJB continues to have control over the original domain names, allowing her to redirect email for the entire domain to a server she does control. She can then leverage that control to take over any account connected to one of those domains that supports email recovery, like the Discord account. Since the Discord account owns the Space Station 14 Discord server, this gives her control over the server.

StaffDen considers PJB’s current control over the Discord account to be unauthorized. PJB has compared her actions with the Discord account to actions StaffDen took around the start of June that involved creating a copy of the authentication server database. While StaffDen considers their actions in relation to the database to be legal, as they contend they were the legal owners of the data, PJB does not. I am not aware of any legal determination that has been made with regard to the situation, and I have seen members of the community compare the two, but I am not aware of StaffDen claiming them to be similar. This is notable because, by her comparisons of the events, PJB appears to be acknowledging that she took an action that she believes is comparable to one she believes was unauthorized or unlawful.

Extortion

I do not have sufficient firsthand knowledge to know every action or the order of events following PJB’s takeover of the Space Station 14 Discord server. However, a screenshot shared by StaffDen, reportedly from an internal channel in the Space Station 14 Discord, shows PJB appearing to attempt to use the regained control of the Discord server to extort1 StaffDen. In the screenshot, staff appear to be threatened with bans if they don’t want to “talk to [PJB] like a human” while simultaneously being coaxed with what is ostensibly an offer to give the Discord server back if the StaffDen copy of the authentication database is deleted.

While “talk to me like a human” is typically a reasonable request, PJB has been making the same request for some time but has responded questionably to people who do try to talk to her. PJB describes the content they’ve been deleting as “blatant harassment” even though that doesn’t appear to align with the opinions of others. The general sentiment of current and former staff appears to be that attempting to talk to PJB is often futile.

PJB has made an announcement2 in the Space Station 14 Discord where she claims that she “didn’t do any of this with the intention of extortion.” Despite this, PJB has banned multiple current StaffDen staff from the Space Station 14 Discord server and has retained control of it after the takeover.

PJB has made an announcement2 in the Space Station 14 Discord server addressing some aspects of the situation, where she continues to claim that all she wants to do was talk.

I intend to update this post if I hear back from PJB or Julian in a timely manner.

  1. The term “extortion” is used for multiple reasons here, but, as with everything here, I am not aware of any criminal or civil charges that have been brought. StaffDen has used the term “extortion” to describe the situation. Additionally, there are threats or ongoing adverse actions for demands being made that rely on capabilities only attained through actions that PJB has compared to hacking. Attaining control over something by hacking is commonly interpreted to be an illegitimate action. ↩
